Start Here: A Vision to Transform State Early Childhood Data to Meet the Needs of Children, Families, and Those Who Support Them

Want to understand how state early childhood data can enable decisionmaking for families, early childhood service providers, and policymakers? Start here.

This resource details DQC’s vision for states to invest in their early childhood data ecosystems—by collecting and reporting data and including that data in early childhood integrated data systems (ECIDSs) and statewide longitudinal data systems (SLDSs)—to transform state early childhood data to meet the needs of children, families, and those who support them. Early childhood data must be able to:

  • Make accessing services easier for families;
  • Reduce the reporting burden on providers; and
  • Integrate data across services to inform policy decisions.
