For 20 years, states have been the leading actors on using data and evidence to understand and respond to issues surrounding education and the workforce. Over time, states have continued to invest in data systems and have built them into effective tools for ensuring students have a broader understanding of pathways available to them from education and into the workforce. To accomplish all of this, states have relied, in part, on partnership with the federal government for funding and support. This resource explores how the President’s first budget request should address funding for key programs like the Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) and Workforce Data Quality Initiative (WDQI) grant programs.
