Associate, Policy and Advocacy

Nadia Valles

Accessible data expands educational opportunity and equips students from all backgrounds with the information they need to plan their future.

As Associate, Nadia supports DQC through a mix of research, policy analysis, and advocacy, working to ensure data systems are used to drive systemic change, economic mobility, and student success.

Prior to joining DQC, Nadia interned on Capitol Hill for a member of the House of Representatives, where she supported the legislative team across workforce, education, agriculture, and tax policy portfolios. In this role, she engaged with constituents through written correspondence, facilitated Capitol tours, and connected individuals to federal resources. Nadia previously worked as a Hispanic Liaison at a Newcomer Academy, a program supporting English Learners who had recently migrated to the United States. She worked closely with students and families to support their transition into the district and taught math.

Nadia holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in Spanish from Oklahoma State University. In May 2026, Nadia is projected to earn her master’s degree in public policy with a concentration in education from American University. Outside of work, Nadia enjoys exploring new coffee shops in DC, attending live music events, and cheering on the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Why do you do this work? Education has shaped my life experiences. From K–12 to higher education, I had the privilege of having educators and a support system that allowed me to pursue my dreams. When I entered the classroom as an English Learner educator, I began to recognize the gaps in information and resources I needed to fully serve my students. I felt driven to ensure all students have the opportunities they deserve whatever their goals may be.

Who are your education heroes? My parents, who always supported my decision to pursue a higher education, and my high school debate coach, Mrs. Soudek, who constantly pushed me outside of my comfort zone!

What’s your superpower? My ability to observe and listen. I rarely miss things!
