Mark Dixon

Mark Dixon is the President of A+ Education Partnership, a statewide advocacy nonprofit working to ensure every child in Alabama receives a world-class education. A+ supports schools across the state through its three programs: the A+ Best Practices Center, A+ College Ready, and the A+ Student VOICES Team.

Under Dixon’s leadership, A+ has played a key role in advancing and implementing evidence-based education policies, including the Alabama Literacy Act, the Alabama Numeracy Act, and the RAISE Act, as well as codifying the state’s longitudinal data system.

After earning his BA in Political Science from Wake Forest University, Dixon served as an education policy advisor to former Alabama Governor Bob Riley. He later earned his MBA in Strategic Management and Public Policy from The George Washington University School of Business and completed an Education Pioneers Fellowship with Teach for America. He then spent seven years with General Electric (GE), where he graduated from GE’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program and led project teams across five continents.

Dixon currently serves on the boards of Children’s of Alabama, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Alabama Possible, the Business Council of Alabama, the Southern Regional Education Board, and the Data Quality Campaign.

Born and raised in Birmingham, Dixon now lives in Montgomery with his wife, Collier.
