Dr. Vivian Tseng

Dr. Vivian Tseng leads the Foundation for Child Development, a private foundation that connects research, policy, and practice to support young children’s well-being. She previously served as Senior Vice President at the William T. Grant Foundation, where she led efforts to strengthen the use of research in public policy and foster collaboration between researchers and practitioners. 

Dr. Tseng is known for her leadership in expanding the field of research on how evidence informs decisionmaking. Her published work covers topics such as child development in the context of race, culture, and immigration, and the role of philanthropy in social change. Her writing has appeared in Child Development, American Psychologist, and other academic journals. Throughout her career, she has developed funding programs to support a broad range of researchers and nonprofit leaders and has mentored many early-career professionals. Dr. Tseng received her PhD from New York University and her BA from University of California, Los Angeles. She serves on the boards of Data Quality Campaign and SEAL. She is co-founder of the Transforming Evidence Funders Network (now Impact Funders Forum) and the Learning Community on Using Evidence for Change (affectionately called “The Nerd Herd”).
