WASHINGTON—October 22, 2014— The Data Quality Campaign (DQC) today announced the appointment of Nuala O’Connor, President and CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) to its Board of Directors.
O’Connor is an internationally recognized expert in Internet and technology policy, particularly in the areas of privacy and information governance. She leads the efforts of CDT, a nonprofit that advocates for public policies that protect the privacy of Internet users, enable free expression online, and promote innovation.
She served as the first Chief Privacy Officer at the Department of Homeland Security and is a recipient of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Vanguard Award.
“We are pleased to have Nuala joining our roster of talented and committed professionals to help shape the work of the Data Quality Campaign,” said Rob McKenna, chairman of DQC’s Board of Directors. “Nuala’s deep experience in privacy, technology and the use of data to improve our lives will prove invaluable.”
“It’s an honor to join the Data Quality Campaign’s Board,” O’Connor said. “There is no personal information more important to protect than data about our children and their education. DQC is a leader in promoting responsible uses of educational data to improve learning, and I’m excited to help them further grow their important work.”
Launched in 2005 by 10 founding partners, the Data Quality Campaign became an independent nonprofit organization in 2011.
