Proper use of student data is at the vanguard of efforts to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education.
James supports his DQC colleagues on a number of cross-cutting projects by contributing writing, policy analysis, and background research. He was drawn to DQC’s mission of empowering students, parents, and educators by giving them the education data they need to raise student achievement.
Before joining DQC in 2016, James worked for US Senator Richard Blumenthal—the senior senator from James’s home state of Connecticut. James oversaw the senator’s education policy portfolio, working with advocacy groups and other stakeholders to draft legislation, prepare policy reports, and navigate legislative strategy. In this role he worked on a variety of education issues, including student digital privacy, social and emotional learning, and student debt relief.
James graduated from Pomona College in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in public policy analysis. He participates as a weekly volunteer in the Everybody Wins! DC reading mentorship program. Outside of work, he enjoys discovering new vegetables at the Dupont Circle Farmers Market and trying to remain positive about his support for the Arsenal Football Club.
